Namon Nuttayasakul Bio

I was born in Bangkok the capital city of Thailand. I grew up in an environment that provided all the facilities, know-how, and the western way of life within a traditional setting of long-established strong Thai culture.

At the age of fifteen, I participated in the student exchange program, which allowed me to experience high school life style in United States at the Colorado High School. I quickly realized that educational standard in the United States provides more opportunities to learn and try new ideas in an excellent academic setting. I then made up my mind to come to the U.S. and pursue higher education. With that in mind, I went back to Thailand and, in year 2000, completed my undergraduate work in computer science at the Mahidol University International College.

During my college years, I participated in several projects and accepted few intern positions. Among many in my College, I was selected to develop a database system for the United Nations conference that was held in Thailand. In addition, I worked with the Media Accreditation and the Liaison Unit of the Department of Public Information at the Tenth United Nations Conference on Trade and Development ( UNCTAD X ). As a database administrator, my duties included, but not limited, to develop, manage, and support the conference's database.

In year 2000, I was a web developer intern at one of the start-up web developing company in Thailand. I was assigned to develop, troubleshoot, and maintain automation tools to process membership submissions into the company's database.

I am currently a graduate student in the field of computer science at San Jose State University, and my interest is to advance my knowledge and skills in web programming and databases. I am very pleased to start a project with Dr. Pollett as my advisor on the topic of "LaTeX and MathML without Plugins using VML and SVG".
