The Summer University Program
·
The Summer University
is a consortium of universities that provides opportunities for top students to
spend three to four weeks abroad studying, working, and socializing with their
peers. The goal is to produce globally prepared graduates able to collaborate
across geographical, cultural, and linguistic boundaries.
· The Summer University was started by Switzerland's
Vaud School for Engineering and Business
(better known by its French acronym HEIG-VD.)
Currently, the Summer
University has programs
in Business, Enology, Health Care, Education, and Computer Science.
·
The participating
universities include: HEIG-VD, San Jose
State, CSU Long Beach, CSU Fullerton,
CSU Humboldt, CSU Fresno, Cal Poly, and Arizona State.
·
In July
of 2007 and again in July of
2008, students and faculty from participating universities spent three
weeks in Switzerland
attending workshops and cultural programs. In July of 2009
the Computer Science students spent four weeks at San Jose State.
