The 2010 Summer University

 

In the summer of 2007 ten students from San Jose State spent the month of July in Switzerland taking advanced courses in Computer Science and traveling around the country. Another ten went in summer of 2008. The 2009 Summer University was hosted at San Jose State. Participants visited technology companies, beaches, forests, and other local attractions. This year the Summer University program will once again be held in Yverdon Les-Baines, Switzerland (which is near Lausanne).

Prerequisites:

Graduate or Senior level students in the CS, SE, and CmpE programs

Application procedure:

The application period is closed, however, there are still a few available slots.

Information Meetings

Here are the notes for the meetings. Read these for a detailed description of what to expect.

 Academic credit:

SJSU students will receive 3 units of CR/NC credit in CS180 in Fall 2010 if they satisfactorily complete the program (this can be counted as an elective in the BSCS and MSCS programs)

Participants will be provided with:

·      Lodging (but not food)

·      A Swiss Rail Pass (free transportation anywhere in Switzerland for a month!)

·      $500 toward air travel (Round trip airfare from SFO to Geneva is about $1300)

·      Entry to a special event (Jazz Festival, Rock Festival, etc.)
