Summer University 2008

This summer the University of Applied Sciences, Western Switzerland, will host a special Summer University program. The program will be similar to last summer's program. Ten Computer Science students from each of the participating US universities will spend three weeks attending lectures, collaborating with Swiss students, participating in cultural programs, and traveling around Switzerland.

 

Costs

Students will be reimbursed for their airfare up to a point. Dormitory housing will also be provided. Food and tuition ($250) are not covered. Students will also be provided with a Swiss rail pass for free. There are also many wonderful free field trips. The full details can be found here.

Tentative Calendar

Lectures and labs will be held every day at the Yverdon Les-Baines campus from 9 - 3 Monday through Friday. Below is a tentative list of some of the other activities. Participating in these activities is not mandatory. Students will have lots of free time to explore. Toward this end each participant will be provided with a free Swiss Rail Pass that allows unlimited travel to any destination in Switzerland.

Courses

Each course will consist of 15 - 20 hours of labs and lectures spread out over two weeks.

How to Apply

Applicants should be seniors or graduate students majoring in Computer Science at San Jose State. Applicant's wo are not US citizens should make sure they can get visas for Switzerland in a timely manner. Send an email to jon.pearce@sjsu.edu by March 21 with subject line "application".
