In this model there are two breeds of turtles: cooperative
red cows and greedy blue cows. Cows move around randomly, eat grass, and
reproduce, if they have enough energy. Cooperative cows only eat the tips of
the grass. This means the grass will grow back faster, but it also means that
the cow won't get as much energy from the grass. Greedy cows practically pull
the grass up by its roots. This gives them lots of energy but means that it
will take longer for the grass to grow back. Under what conditions will the
greedy cows become extinct and when do the cooperative cows become extinct?
With all controls fixed, experiment with stride length. Why
is a big stride length better for greedy cows? How might this be related to the
exploitation of developing countries?
