Web Security

Dr. Tom Austin

This course will discuss some of the security challenges that plague the web today.  Among others, we will look at cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks and SQL injection vulnerabilities.  We will also cover defenses against these attacks, and counter-measures that attackers use to evade those defenses in order to better explore the cat-and-mouse game that is security on the web.  Students from San Jose State should note that this course offers a preview of some of the topics that will be covered in SJSU's new Web Security course (CS 266) being offered this Fall.

Tom Austin is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at San Jose State University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Tom is an alumnus of the very first Summer University program, which was held in Yverdon in 2007!
