| Introduction |
This is a cookbook on how to
connect to SJSU Wireless Network using your campus-wide login account
which you need to register via SJSJone (http://sjsu.edu/sjsuone/).
The following steps assume that you have already registered your
SJSUone account. This cookbook also assumes that you have
configured your Windows 2000 Professional laptop with a Netgear
WG511 wireless card to access wireless access points (WAPs) without
using any encryption (e.g., WEP). |
| Step
1 |
In your system tray (lower right
corner of your desktop), double click the icon that looks like a little
computer monitor with radio waves coming out. The color of the
icon will most likely be in red color. A sample of this icon: ![]() |
| Step 2 |
A new window, NETGEAR WG511 WIZARD - Wireless Assistant,
will pop up, and under the Networks tab, select any network named SJSU and click the Connect button.![]() You may try different SJSU networks for a better performance by selecting the one with the strongest signal. |
| Step 3 |
Upon successful connection, the
little icon in Step 1 will turn green or yellow, and in some cases red,
but the connection is still available. Now, open up a browser, and surf to any Internet site you want to visit (e.g., http://www.cs.sjsu.edu). The browser will redirect you to a login page where you need to use your SJSUone account to authenticate yourself.  Enter your login information where marked by the red circles below. Please contact the technical support marked by the green circles. FYI: The new wireless network provider is Comcast and their URL "*.nnu.com" is displayed in your browser's address field. ![]() |
| Step 4 |
Upon a successful login, the
browser will now pop up a small window that looks like this:![]() Click OK after making note of the content. Now, you will see the "Login Success" page that looks like below: ![]() When you're done with this wifi session, be sure to logout by clicking the link marked by the green circle. |
| Step 5 |
When you are done with your
session, DO NOT JUST shutoff/suspend your laptop, or just logout from your
computer.
Open up that window you in Step 4 (or go to the URL of the page in Step 4)
and click the link "Logout Wireless Network" inside that
window. You will then see a "Logout Success" page that looks like
below:![]() If you do not logout via this means, you will not be able to reconnect until your previous session times out (up to 15 minutes). |
