For courses of which I have more than one section, it is probably ok to take your exam with another section, but please ask -- sometimes there isn't enough room.
The test is designed to take the entire class period, so you may leave when you are finished (but not while people are still arriving).
I will try to start a few minutes early and end a few minutes late. In fairness to those who need to be somewhere else, and to other classes using the classroom, "few" means "very few".
I usually will provide a few references -- at least a copy of the textbook. If you take them to your desk, please return them after a minute or two.
Except for final exams, my tests tend to consist of one full page of questions. Please don't try to fit your answers on the test sheet.
Please bring your own paper. I normally bring some for those who forget.
I don't need the test sheet back (unless there is something on it that you want me to see).
Unless I say otherwise, you don't need to show your work. However it is often hard to give partial credit if you don't.
Please ask me if you are unsure about what a question is asking. If you come to me after a test and say "If I had understood this question, I would have been able to answer it", then there's no fair thing to do. It's not fair to give you the points, and not fair not to. It's best not to let the situation arise in the first place.
