CS297-298 Project News Feed

Weekly Meeting Summary (March 21)
   (Posted on Mon, 26 Mar 2007 19:37:49 PDT .)
Talked to Professor Pollett about switching project over to Obj-C/Cocoa.
He tentatively agreed, depending on how much progress I make in the
next two weeks (next week is Spring Break for SJSU).

Weekly Meeting Summary (Sept 12th)
   (Posted on Wed, 13 Sep 2006 20:29:44 PDT .)
Went over the algorithm in greater detail. We decided to
implement a couple of versions of the minimum enclosing
circle algorithm. Will meet again in two weeks. I should
also start working on the terrain.

TASKS
* deliverable - planar meeting point
* work on terrain generation

Weekly Meeting Summary (Sept 5th)
   (Posted on Tue, 05 Sep 2006 22:05:16 PDT .)
We have decided to proceed with working with Managed
DirectX since I didn't make any progress with Cocoa
and OpenGL over the summer.
I turned in the proposal last week, but we are
waiting on the committee to give the final ok.
In the meantime, I will proceed according to the schedule.
After next week, we will be meeting on a bi-weekly
basis.

TASKS
* work on implementing some algorithms

Weekly Meeting Summary (May 9th)
   (Posted on Sat, 13 May 2006 16:19:27 PDT .)
Notes:
Turned in the Pick N' Pop Deliverable. Discussed
tasks for the next couple of weeks. It was decided
that I will turn in two more deliverables and the
297 report.

Tasks:
* Deliverable: DirectX Mesh Demo
* Rough Draft of 297 Report.

Weekly Meeting Summary (March 22)
   (Posted on Thu, 06 Apr 2006 13:20:50 PDT .)
Notes:
Next week would be Spring Break. The
following week meeting would be on
Thursday. The week after no meeting, but
the week after that, things will return to
normal.

Went over some 3D math, about lines
intersecting planes.

Tasks:
# create slides on DirectX mesh.
# Deliver Pick N Pop
# Deliver DirectMesh demo - try to make the
demo non-trivial

Weekly Meeting Summary (March 7)
   (Posted on Sat, 11 Mar 2006 17:20:27 PST .)
Notes:
Added the first deliverable to my Thesis page.
Went over the DirectInput slides. Re-installed
DirectX redistributable, and got the initial the
unfinished version of Pick N Pop running.

Tasks:
# create slides on DirectX mesh.
# add some slides to DirectInput on force
feedback
# Deliver Pick N Pop
# Deliver DirectMesh demo - try to make the
demo non-trivial

Weekly Meeting Summary (February 28)
   (Posted on Mon, 06 Mar 2006 22:12:10 PST .)
Notes:
Get the Demo Computer Running, Part 2. The
one-click installation of Visual Studio 2005
worked well, and we were able to run the
demo of the UFO moving around the screen.
We went over the sample framework code.

Tasks:
# add a slide to the presentation about the
framework
# comment the code on the demo
# repackage the demo into a zip according
to the instructions on the website
# create Direct Input slides
# work on Pick N' Pop some more

Weekly Meeting Summary (February 21)
   (Posted on Mon, 06 Mar 2006 20:48:56 PST .)
Notes:
Get the Demo Computer Running, Part 1. We
managed to install the video card, .NET 2.0,
and DirectX runtime. However, we were still
unable to run my UFO demo.

Tasks:
# Slides on DirectInput
# revised slides on Game Loop
# Work on Pick N Pop some more
# try and get the demo to run on a friend's
box

Weekly Meeting Summary (February 14)
   (Posted on Mon, 06 Mar 2006 20:47:36 PST .)
Notes:
Talked about graphics - projections and
lighting. Potential Direct3D speed difference
in managed versus C++ libraries. Talked
about C# namespaces, and Common
Intermediate Language (CIL). We also talked
about how SJSU needs to start hitting up
some companies for used computers.

Tasks:
# Revise weekly schedule (break the
deliverable to its own line / include dates)
# look for extra graphics card for office
computer
# start coding Pick 'N Pop
# download .NET 2.0 redistributable, latest
DirectX runtime, and Graphics Card driver to
bring to the meeting next week

Weekly Meeting Summary (February 7)
   (Posted on Mon, 06 Mar 2006 20:46:09 PST .)
Actual content of the entry.

Notes:
Most readings should be summarized using
slides (Powerpoint / Keynote / etc.)

Tasks:
# Revise weekly schedule to include some
coding and some reading every week.
# Redo deliverables so that each deliverable
is a segment of code.
# Create UFO demo using Direct3D
# Draft slides that cover the groundwork
needed to get the Direct3D demo initialized.
