What resources do departments need to meet the ATI goals?
The Accessible Technology Initiative Priorities
The Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) came about because of Calstate Coded Memoranda AA-2007-04-PDF which requires that all administrative and instructional materials be made accessible by 2012.
All new greensheets/instructional materials are supposed to be accessible beginning Fall 2008.
All administrative websites are supposed to be accessible by May, 2009.
The ATI recognizes the current funding problems of the CSU and for this academic year is trying to focus on
getting documents/sites converted which maximize the pay-off to students/staff/faculty with accessibility issues.
The top priority being new greensheets/instructional materials.
Faculty-in-Residence, Student-in-Residence
Each college has a faculty-in-residence (FIR) and student-in-residence for ATI to facilitate meeting the objectives of the coded memoranda
The FIRs duties are:
To stay current on accessibility issues with regard to greensheets/instructional materials
To offer training sessions and consultations to departments on these
To serve as a go to person with regard to ATI questions
To supervise the student-in-residence (SIR).
The SIRs duty is to actually convert documents into an accessible format for faculty in an on-demand fashion:
A faculty member wanting to convert documents writes the FIR with the request.
If the request is reasonable, the FIR send the request to the SIR.
The SIR sends back a time frame for completing the document to the FIR and faculty member
The SIR then converts the document, sends the converted and original document to the FIR and faculty member with a list of changes, or with questions if there are issues about the conversion.

What kind of help does your department need to assist greensheet/instructional material conversion?
What kind of workshops would best help your faculty create new documents in an accessible format?
What kind of documents formats do you need converted? Right now, we are supporting HTML, Word, Powerpoint, PDF.
Do you have new courses that are being taught whose greensheets still need conversion?
