Dr. Melody Moh received her PhD in Computer
Science from the University of California, Davis. She is a professor and former
chairperson (Summer 2019 - Summer 2024) of the Dept of Computer Science at San
Jose State University. She currently serves as the PI
(Principle Investigator) of an Implementation Grant from the Center for
Inclusive Computing (Oct 2021 - Oct 2026), the PI of the WITH Cyber project for
development future workforce in Cybersecurity and AI in California (2023-2026),
funded by the State of California, and the PI for the SJSU Instruction
Hub of Break Through Tech (2024-26), funded by NSF (National Science
Foundation) through Break Through Tech (of Cornell University).
She has received over $4M federal and private grants in research and education.
Dr. Moh’s main research area includes
Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Wireless Networks, AI/ML (Machine Learning)
Applications, and Computer Science Education. She has published over 250
peer-reviewed articles in international journals, conference proceedings, and
books, including several best-paper awards, and has served as a keynote speaker
at several international conferences. She has been a consultant and
collaborated broadly with companies in the Silicon Valley and elsewhere,
including Dell, Nutanix, Ericsson, Nokia, Fujitsu Labs, KDDI, and 3Com.
Dr. Moh’s work in Computer Science (CS)
Education: Passionate about improving the diversity of computing education and
of cyber workforce, she has recently led the CS Dept to develop several new BS
and MS degree programs including BS in Data Science, and both BS and MS in CS +
Linguistics, in CS + Geology, and is developing a BS in CS + Biology
(Computational Biology), each of which is the first of its kind in the
California State University (CSU) system.
