Prospective students are students who have not applied to SJSU yet.
- Prospective students need to meet with Jon Pearce, Computer Science Chair
- Make an appointments with Dr. Pearce at the
CS Department Office

FROSH STUDENTS |

Students who began the BSCS
program directly from high school. |

1st Semester FROSH Students at SJSU:
- Must first attend an Advising Workshop
- Must meet with a CS Peer Mentor
- Must meet with Rocio Avila to clear Major Advising Registration Holds and
review academic plan
2nd Semester FROSH Students at SJSU:
- Students must meet with CS Intern, Bernard Mesa, for
academic Advising and to clear their Major Advising Registration Hold
3rd Semester FROSH Students at SJSU:
- Students must meet with
Rocio Avila, CS
Undergraduate Advisor to clear Major Advising Registration Holds and
review academic plan
4th Semester FROSH Students through Graduation at SJSU:
- Students must meet with their assigned
Faculty Advisor
to clear Major Advising Registration Holds,
review academic plan, and apply for graduation

PREPARE FOR YOUR ADVISING
SESSION by bringing the following:

CS Major Advising Release Form COMPLETELY
filled out the
-
Course Equivalency Form (CEF): If you have ANY
Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Computer Science courses or
credit from another college, university, or AP college credit, fill out the CEF and submit to the CS Office in MH 208.

A copy of your transcripts
(un-official web printout okay)
APPLYING FOR GRADUATION:
If you THINK you will
complete your BSCS degree by Spring 2013 (one year from now), you MUST
APPLY for graduation NOW (Spring 2012) by filling out these
forms:

Students admitted to SJSU BUT changed
major to Computer Science |

Before changing your major to Computer
Science you must be:

eligible for
*Math 30/30P (Calculus I) and
-
in good academic standing
To change your major:
-
Fill out the
Change of Major Form
-
Meet with
Rocio Avila for
approval
-
Submit approved Change of
Major Form to Window R at the
Student Services Center
*A student is eligible for Math 30/30P if he or she:
-
receives a sufficiently high
score on the Calculus Placement Exam,
-
passes Math 19 with a grade
of C or better, or
-
has a score of 3 or higher
in AP Calculus examination.
